The hearing-impaired community in Sri Lanka has informed the Commission that they have difficulty accessing information on COVID-19.

Sri Lanka's Human Rights Commission has endorsed measures taken by the government to prevent the spread of COVID-19 in the country and the way this information has been shared with the public through government announcements and television news.

However, since the news and government announcements are not broadcast in sign language, the hearing-impaired community in Sri Lanka has informed the Commission that they have difficulty accessing this information.

Therefore, the Commission has asked the government to notify all Rupavahini television channels to use sign language when broadcasting the news, government announcements and special news.
