IHCHR calls on the Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces to take appropriate measures to protect human rights defenders.
The IHCHR condemns the assassination of the civil activist, Ehab Al-Wazni, in Karbala which came as a continuation of the series of assassinations against activists and people of free speech.
The IHCHR expresses its deep regret and confirms that the security system is weak in protecting activists, which force many of them to leave Iraq, and the rest of them became prey to these tragic events.
The IHCHR calls on the Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces to take appropriate measures to protect activists, media professionals, bloggers and people with free speech, bring the perpetrators to justice and enhance security and intelligence efforts.
