NIHR bolsters human rights education

Secretary-General of the National Institution for Human Rights (NIHR), Dr Khalifa bin Ali Al-Fadhel, has stressed that training national competencies on human rights principles is a priority for the NIHR.
He told the Bahrain News Agency that the NIHR had provided human rights training to 880 individuals during the second quarter of this year, an increase of 132% compared with the same period last year.
The NIHR's education programs have included law enforcement officials, academics, consultants and trade union representatives, as well as civil society organisations, students, human rights activists and private business institutions.
Dr Al-Fadhel said that the NIHR sought to promote a human rights culture among all segments of society.
He also welcomed cooperation with the Asia Pacific Forum of National Human Rights Institutions and other organisations.
