APF meets with Korean Commission
الجرافيك APF Leadership Outreach call with the National Human Rights Commission of Korea
The APF has met with the National Human Rights Commission of Korea as part of its Leadership Outreach Programme.
The APF secretariat recently met with Mr Park Chanun, Standing Commissioner of the National Human Rights Commission of Korea (NHRCK) as part of its Leadership Solidarity Outreach program.
The program aims to support APF members through dialogues and the provision of advice as they continue to navigate the challenges presented by the COVID-19 pandemic.
During the virtual session, held on 20 December 2021, the NHRCK raised the potential for cooperation with the APF to support technical assistance to NHRIs and explore possible support from the Korean International Aid Agency.
The Commissioner also discussed the potential for an exchange between APF secretariat staff and commission staff when travel permits.
He appreciated the Leadership Outreach Call and welcomes further online interactions, including a possible virtual dialogue focused on the role of NHRIs in addressing human rights issues during the pandemic.
The Leadership Solidarity Outreach program provides an opportunity for leaders of member institutions to discuss their current work and priorities and are a valuable way of maintaining institutional and personal relationships while travel between countries is not possible.
The program will continue while COVID-19 travel restrictions remain in place.
