Capacity assessment manual now available in Arabic and Russian

The APF’s capacity assessment manual and easy guide have been translated into Arabic and Russian.

The APF's capacity assessment manual and accompanying easy guide have been translated into Arabic and Russian, to support NHRIs across Central and West Asia.

The Capacity Assessment Project is a joint initiative between the APF, the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) and the Office of the High Commissioner for Human Rights (OHCHR). Capacity assessments support APF members to identify their current capabilities and determine which capacities they need to develop to be strong and effective NHRIs.

To date, more than 24 capacity assessments have been undertaken with APF members, with many NHRIs finding them so valuable they have sought to keep the information and analysis up to date through a capacity assessment review or another capacity assessment.

The Capacity Assessment Manual for National Human Rights Institutions is a comprehensive guide for NHRIs. The manual outlines what a capacity assessment is, the benefits to NHRIs, and the steps required to undertake one.

The Capacity Assessment Manual for National Human Rights Institutions: Easy Guide is a condensed version of the manual, focusing on the key elements and steps to conducting an effective capacity assessment.

The APF has translated these manuals into Arabic and Russian to expand the toolkit of resources available to members, ensuring that the capacity assessment process is accessible to all corners of the region.

The APF will continue to work towards having more resources available in shared languages within the membership.
