The 17th Annual Meeting was hosted by the Jordan National Centre for Human Rights, in advance of the 11th International Conference of NHRIs.
The Jordan National Centre for Human Rights hosted the APF's 17th Annual Meeting, held in Amman on 5 November 2012.
The meeting took place in advance of the 11th International Conference of the International Coordinating Committee of National Human Rights Institutions (ICC).
The 2012 Annual Meeting was attended by representatives from all 18 APF member institutions.
During the meeting, the APF Forum Council unanimously approved the application of the Myanmar National Human Rights Commission for associate membership, making the newly established NHRI the APF's 19th member institution.
In other decisions of the Forum Council, the National Human Rights Commission of Korea was appointed as the APF representative to the ICC Working Group on Human Rights and Business.
Forum Councillors also welcomed the reports of ANNI – the Asian NGOs Network on National Human Rights Institutions – and reaffirmed the importance of developing close cooperation between national human rights institutions and civil society organisations.
It was agreed that the National Human Rights Committee of Qatar will host the combined APF Annual Meeting and Biennial Conference in 2013.
