A working group headed by Chief Commissioner Byambadorj Jamsran conducted an inquiry into medical care and services in Dornogovi province from 14-19 January 2019.

The inquiry gathered evidence on the quality and accessibility of medical care and services of Dornogovi Province Center Hospital, as well as implementation of the sexual and reproductive rights and health of girls and women with disabilities.

The inquiry sought to determine whether the implementation of the right to medical care and services in Dornogovi province was in line with the guarantees set out in national laws and international treaties.

It also provided an opportunity to follow up on the Commission's recommendations to relevant authorities to ensure full implementation of the rights to sexual and reproductive health of girls and women with disabilities.

The Commission will carry out similar inquiries with health facilities across Mongolia throughout the year.

The Commission also monitored implementation of the right to a safe and healthy environment of residents in Dalanjargalan and Airag soums of Dornogovi province, based on the complaints lodged by locals.

The working group, headed by Chief Commissioner Jamsran, monitored the activities of the mining companies operating nearby and the extent to which their activities affected the human rights and freedoms of local communities, as guaranteed by domestic laws and the international treaties ratified by Mongolia.
