SUHAKAM launches anti-torture campaign

The Commission and civil society partners have launched a national campaign calling for Malaysia’s accession to the UN Convention Against Torture.

The Human Rights Commission of Malaysia (SUHAKAM) is currently working with civil society organisations to run a nation-wide campaign advocating for Malaysia' accession to the UN Convention Against Torture and Other Cruel, Inhuman or Degrading Treatment or Punishment (CAT).

In order to promote greater public awareness of the campaign, SUHAKAM and its partners have created a dedicated FaceBook Page entitled "ACT4CATMalaysia", as well as two hashtags: #ACT4CAT (Act for the Convention Against Torture) and #HENTISEKSA ("Stop torture" in Malay).

SUHAKAM has also produced a set of posters that focus on four key steps in the fight against torture:
