Commission deepens partnership with UNDP

The IHCHR expressed appreciation for the efforts of UNDP in building the capacity of the Commission and its staff

Professor Anas Akram Mohammed, Member of the Iraqi High Commission for Human Rights, recently met with representatives from the United Nations Development Program (UNDP) Regional Office in Baghdad.

Professor Akram discussed the work of the Commission and the challenges it faces in protecting and promoting human rights.

He also described an important new initiative of the Commission to build greater cooperation with civil society institutions in Iraq.

On behalf of the IHCHR board, Professor Akram expressed his appreciation for the efforts of UNDP in building the capacity of the Commission and its staff, as well as its support for the Commission's reaccreditation with the Global Alliance of National Human Rights Institutions.

The UNDP team stressed its commitment to providing capacity support to the IHCHR and strengthening the Commission's engagement with the international human rights system.
