Iraqi Commission elected as executive member of the Arab Network for Human Rights

The High Commission for Human Rights of Iraq has been elected as an executive member of the Arab Network for Human Rights.

The High Commission for Human Rights of Iraq (IHCHR) has been elected as an executive member of the Arab Network for Human Rights, during the 17th work meeting of the General Assembly of the Arab Network of National Institutions for Human Rights, held on 2 June 2021, and attended by the Chairperson of the IHCHR, Dr. Aqil Al-Mansoori Al-Moussawi.

The meeting's agenda included the ceremony of transferring the presidency of the Arab Network from Palestine to Qatar, discussing the operational work plan of the Arab Network for the year 2021, the organisational preparations for the holding of the international conference and the sustainable development plan (peace, justice and strong institutions) for the year 2030.

The conference was attended by heads and representatives of national human rights institutions in Egypt, Palestine, Sudan, Jordan, Bahrain, Kuwait, Tunisia, Morocco, Lebanon, Oman, Algeria, Djibouti (in addition to Iraq), and with participation of representatives from the Arab League, the Office of the High Commissioner for Human Rights, the United Nations Development Programme, OHCHR, UNDP, The United Nations Economic and Social Commission for West Asia, and the Global Alliance of National Human Rights Institutions.
